If COVID-19 restrictions have left you with more free time on the nights or weekends, there are some great Oracle training programs available that are worth exploring to ‘level-up’ on some of Oracle’s new offerings. Based off the current volume of work (and forecasting where the market will be in 3-5 years), we would recommend exploring training in Oracle ERP Cloud, E-Business Suite (yes, still), Oracle NetSuite, and Oracle APEX.

Five years ago, it was commonplace to see prognostications of companies nearly universally migrating their applications to the Cloud by 2020. The mass migration of companies’ ERP stacks to the Cloud has not materialized (though there have been some examples), but over the last five years most companies have strategically introduced one-off Cloud applications that more readily integrate with their on-premise systems.

This is certain to change as the manufacturing and supply chain components of Oracle’s Cloud continue to mature. With that said, companies are continuing to invest in their EBS (and other on-premise applications), and we expect that to continue into the foreseeable future.

Still, taking the time gain baseline knowledge on Cloud is worth the investment. Although there are still many more EBS than Cloud customers, the gap will be reduced over the next ten years. While EBS and ERP Cloud have similar workflows and presentation, there are enough subtleties in the Cloud that a high-level overview will allow you to hit the ground running on your first Cloud assignment.

While Oracle ERP Cloud is designed for the enterprise-grade customer (a market which is generally faced with enormous migrations from large, customized on-prem ERP environments), Oracle NetSuite has established a strong foothold in the mid-market space with over 20,000 customers and growing rapidly.
